K.T. Jaleel Questions CPM-RSS Relationship, Cites Lack of Friendship Among Comrades

Thiruvananthapuram: MLA K.T. Jaleel has stirred a political debate by stating that members of the Congress party maintain friendships with RSS workers, a stark contrast to his observations regarding CPM comrades.
Jaleel elaborated on the distinct approaches of Congress and CPM towards RSS activists. He noted, “Many of us have RSS friends, but not a single comrade has an RSS person as a friend. I know many communists who are Hindu by birth. Has any of them ever had an RSS person as a friend?”
He further highlighted the social distance maintained by CPM members, stating, “They usually don’t even attend their weddings. For Congress members, that’s not an issue. Congress members attend any wedding. I don’t look at whether it’s RSS or another party. Comrades usually don’t even attend weddings at the homes of RSS workers. However, Congress members attend all weddings, regardless of whether it’s RSS or other party members.”
Jaleel indirectly suggested that the CPM maintains an “inch-by-inch fight” against the RSS without any compromise. He claimed that while he and many others have friends within the RSS and BJP, the absence of similar friendship circles among comrades is indicative of this unyielding stance.
In a pointed question, Jaleel challenged whether top CPM leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, have ever attended weddings of RSS or BJP leaders. He concluded by asserting that the CPM’s rigid approach, often leading to criticisms like ‘Antardhara’ (implying a secret understanding), raises questions about whom the public should trust.
