Muslim League Keeps Its Word: Houses Handled Over to Wayanad Landslide Victims

KALPETTA: The first phase of the rehabilitation project announced by the Muslim League to support those who lost everything in the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides in Wayanad has been completed. Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, State President of the Muslim League, inaugurated the “Snehabhavanam” (Home of Love) complex built in Trikkaipetta Vellithode. In this initial phase, houses were handed over to 51 affected families. Each house, spanning 1,060 square feet, features three bedrooms, a hall, a kitchen, and all modern amenities. Notably, the houses were handed over fully furnished.
This project stands as a noble example of communal harmony, as beneficiaries were selected regardless of caste or religion. Out of the 51 families who received homes in the first phase, 14 belong to other religious communities. A total of 105 houses are envisioned for this complex, and party leaders announced that the construction of the remaining houses will be completed and handed over by the end of May. The event was graced by Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi as the chief guest, and Muslim League National General Secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty presided over the function.
During the ceremony, Sadiqali Shihab Thangal stated that fulfilling the promise made during the disaster in record time was the result of collective effort. Priyanka Gandhi commented that the “Snehabhavanam” project is a significant step toward rebuilding lives that were once shattered.
