Sadiqali Thangal Endorses V.D. Satheesan as CM Candidate

Muslim League Prioritizes Public Sentiment and Coalition Unity Over Deputy CM Post

In a significant development for the United Democratic Front (UDF) leadership discussions, Panakkad Sayyid Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, the State President of the Muslim League, has openly endorsed V.D. Satheesan for the Chief Minister’s post. Thangal noted that the widespread public support reflected in recent polls for Satheesan is a reality that should be treated as the voice of the people. He emphasized that the UDF’s future decisions regarding leadership will prioritize this public sentiment.

Thangal also clarified the Muslim League’s stance on its role in a potential future cabinet, stating that the party does not intend to demand the Deputy Chief Minister position. He expressed confidence that the UDF would grant the League the consideration and representation it deserves without the need for formal demands, citing the historical respect the party has received within the alliance.

Commenting on recent exit polls, Thangal stated that the findings provide a major boost of confidence for the UDF. He predicted that the alliance would secure even more seats than what the surveys currently suggest, dismissing claims from political rivals and asserting that the League remains the sole architect of its own political agenda. This endorsement marks a crucial shift in the internal dynamics of the UDF as it prepares for potential government formation.
