K C Venugopal forecasts Landmark UDF Victory, Surpassing Exit Poll Projections
AICC General Secretary Claims Public Resentment Against LDF Governance Will Lead to 100-Seat Majority

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader and AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has expressed supreme confidence in the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) prospects, stating that the alliance will achieve a much larger victory than what the recent exit polls have suggested. Speaking on April 30, 2026, following the release of various survey results, Venugopal asserted that the “UDF wave” on the ground is stronger than any data captured by polling agencies.
Venugopal dismissed the conservative estimates provided by some surveys, which predict a tight race, and instead stood by his earlier prediction that the UDF would secure at least 100 seats in the 140-member assembly. He argued that the exit polls often fail to account for the depth of public dissatisfaction regarding the LDF government’s “misgovernance” and the specific allegations of corruption and “arrogance” leveled against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
According to Venugopal, the high voter turnout of over 78% recorded on April 9 is a clear indicator of a “pro-change” sentiment among the people of Kerala. He noted that neutral voters and the youth have turned out in large numbers to reject the incumbent government’s policies. He specifically mentioned that the Congress-led front has managed to consolidate minority and neutral votes across the state, which will result in a decisive mandate when the official counting takes place on May 4.
Addressing internal discussions regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate, Venugopal maintained that the primary focus remains on the collective victory of the front. He criticized the LDF for attempting to create confusion within UDF ranks and reiterated that the party’s central leadership, in consultation with elected legislators, will make the final decision following the results. He concluded by stating that the people of Kerala are ready to “restore democratic values and communal harmony” by ousting the current administration.
