Minister Sivankutty Slams School Management Over Hijab Issue: ‘Challenges Not Welcome Here’

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V. Sivankutty stated that the hijab issue at Palluruthy school was resolved yesterday itself, but efforts are now being made to politicize the matter. He asserted that the school management and the PTA responded with political motives. Sivankutty informed the media that both the lawyer representing the school and the school management attempted to insult the government and the Education Department.

The Minister declared that attempts to communalize the issue for political gains on behalf of the Congress party would not be permitted. He accused them of challenging the government, stating, ‘Challenges are not welcome here.’ He affirmed that the law would take its course, and actions would proceed in accordance with the Indian Constitution and court verdicts, warning of intervention if otherwise. Sivankutty criticized the school lawyer’s response as immature, reminding the management that neither the lawyer nor the PTA president should be speaking on their behalf.

Sivankutty further stated that the management was also ready to politicize the issue. He warned that claiming laws are not applicable to them would not be accepted. He highlighted that they questioned the authority of the department, something no other un-aided institution has ever done. The Education Minister clarified that the Director of Public Education has the authority to deny NOC (No Objection Certificate) under education rules, yet the management questioned their powers. He concluded by stating that the government would not tolerate any notion that the management is above the government.
