Health Minister Veena George visited the home of Bindu, who died in the Kottayam Medical College building collapse. The minister arrived at Bindu’s residence in Thalayolaparambu, Kottayam, around 7:15 AM. There had been widespread criticism that the minister had not even offered words of solace to Bindu’s family.
The minister spoke with Bindu’s husband, mother, and children, offering words of comfort and assuring them that all necessary support would be provided before her departure. The minister arrived at the house accompanied by local CPM leaders.
Speaking to the media, the minister described the incident as extremely tragic and stated that Bindu’s family’s grief was her own. She assured that the government stands fully with the family and that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would announce the assistance for them.
Meanwhile, a preliminary investigation led by the District Collector revealed that the third-floor restroom of the collapsed building at Kottayam Medical College was indeed being used by patients. As part of preparing the final report, the Collector has sought information from departments including the Fire Force and the Public Works Building division. Instructions have been given to provide details regarding the rescue operation and the condition of the collapsed building.
