Tragic Loss: Two Boys Electrocuted in Kozhikode Stream Amidst Heavy Rains

Kozhikode: Two young brothers tragically died from electrocution in Kodenchery, Kozhikode, after venturing into a stream to fish. The deceased have been identified as Nidhin (14) and Ebin (10), sons of Chandrankunnel.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM today (Sunday). Preliminary findings suggest that the boys were electrocuted by a snapped live power line that had fallen into the stream while they were fishing. The accident happened amidst continuous heavy rainfall in the area. A tree branch, broken by the wind, had fallen onto the power line, causing it to snap and fall into the stream.

This tragic incident brings the total number of rain-related deaths in the state today to four. Earlier today, two other individuals died in Kozhikode and Idukki when trees fell on them. The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue tomorrow as well. Red alerts have been declared for 11 districts tomorrow, with orange alerts for the remaining districts.
