Kochi: Actor Unni Mukundan has issued a detailed clarification regarding the allegations of assaulting his former manager, Vipin Kumar. While denying any physical assault, Mukundan admitted to throwing Vipin Kumar’s sunglasses during an emotional discussion.
Addressing the media in Kochi, Unni Mukundan stated, “I did not assault Vipin Kumar, but it is true that I threw his cooling glasses.” He explained that certain actions by Vipin were unforgivable, and he wanted to understand why Vipin was speaking negatively about him. “Based on that, I decided to meet him,” Unni Mukundan said, adding, “I spoke to him somewhat emotionally. It was in that moment that I threw the cooling glasses he was wearing.”
Unni Mukundan further claimed that an eyewitness, without even knowing the full context, reported the incident to the police. He believes the eyewitness was truthful in stating that he did not physically assault Vipin. “The person did not say I assaulted Vipin,” Mukundan reiterated. He mentioned that the eyewitness merely asked for a written apology to avoid future complications. Unni Mukundan also expressed difficulty in working with Vipin Kumar again. He added that he understands a prominent actress has also filed a complaint against Vipin with FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala).
The actor asserted that the real issue has not yet been discussed. He criticized the media for trusting someone who isn’t even a member of FEFKA, stating, “Everyone believed what a person who continuously lies said.” He reiterated that he never touched Vipin. Unni Mukundan also alleged that Vipin Kumar has been spreading rumors that he has a bad character. “He should state what I have done to whom. I have not run away anywhere; I am right here,” Unni Mukundan said, affirming his full cooperation with the investigation and stating that false information is being propagated.
Unni Mukundan also added that he has received death threats. He clarified that Tovino Thomas is a close friend of his and that he has never said anything negative concerning Tovino.
