Dileep Granted Passport for Overseas Movie Promotions

Kochi: Actor Dileep has been granted permission by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court to have his passport returned. The court’s decision comes after Dileep argued that he needs to travel abroad for the promotion of his recently released film.
The actor’s passport was previously seized by the court after he was implicated as an accused in the prominent actress assault case. Dileep’s legal team contended that with his acquittal in the case, the imposed bail conditions, which included the surrender of his passport, were no longer valid.
Following his acquittal, Dileep had promptly filed a petition with the court requesting the release of his passport. The prosecution, however, opposed this request, citing their intention to appeal the acquittal and arguing that the passport should remain with the court. Despite the prosecution’s objections, the court accepted the defense’s argument that the bail conditions had ceased to apply post-acquittal.
Historically, when Dileep’s passport was under judicial custody, he was required to file a special petition with the High Court to obtain permission for international travel. This latest ruling simplifies future travel arrangements for the actor, enabling him to participate in promotional activities for his new cinematic venture overseas.
