Kerala Braces for Thunderstorms and Rain; Alerts Issued

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning for light rain accompanied by strong thunderstorms in Kerala today. While no specific rain warnings have been declared in the department’s five-day rain probability forecast, the Meteorological Department has indicated a possibility of light rain across all 14 districts of Kerala today.
The Central Meteorological Department further stated that isolated areas in Kerala are likely to experience rain with thunderstorms and strong winds, potentially reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Thunderstorms pose significant dangers, causing considerable damage to human and animal lives, power and communication networks, and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, the public is advised to take the following precautions from the moment dark clouds begin to form. It is crucial not to neglect these precautions, as lightning may not always be visibly apparent.
Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department also forecast the possibility of light rain in isolated areas of Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts in Kerala over the next 3 hours.
