Police Widen Search for Rapper Veden in Rape Case; Investigation Extends to Other States

Police have intensified their investigation and widened the search for rapper Hirandas Murali, also known as Veden, in connection with a rape case filed against him. Authorities have decided to extend the probe to other states, as information indicates that Veden is currently not in Kerala.

Rapper Veden had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the rape case, which was registered based on a young woman’s complaint. However, the police have decided not to wait for the anticipatory bail application to be heard.

The investigation for Veden is being conducted by two separate teams led by the Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

Earlier a young woman doctor from Kottayam has come forward with a complaint against musician Veden, alleging that he sexually harassed her under the pretext of marriage from August 2021 to March 2023.

According to the complaint, the victim claims Veden subjected her to abuse six times at various locations over a period of two years, including instances where substances were allegedly used. The doctor’s statement also includes the names of friends who were aware of these alleged incidents.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed that there were financial transactions between the woman and Veden. Authorities stated that they have begun recording the statements of witnesses in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
