Woman Alleges Forced Abortion Via Video Call, Pills Delivered by MLA Rahul Mamkootathil’s Friend

Thiruvananthapuram: Disturbing details have emerged from the statement provided by a woman against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The woman has reportedly testified that Mamkootathil threatened her to undergo an abortion and that the necessary pills were delivered through his friend, Joby Joseph.
The victim recounted a terrifying experience, stating that when she raised concerns about the dangers of taking the medication, Rahul Mamkootathil insisted she proceed. He provided instructions via a video call and ensured she had consumed the pill before ending the call. Following this, she endured a harrowing ordeal, experiencing continuous bleeding for three days. Upon seeking medical attention, she was reportedly reprimanded by a doctor who informed her that such an unscientific method could gravely endanger her life.
Previous reports had suggested that the woman underwent the abortion at a hospital in Bengaluru. However, her recent statement contradicts these claims, making it clear that the abortion was performed through an unscientific and potentially dangerous method.
The statement-taking session, led by the Rural SP, lasted for approximately five and a half hours, during which the woman provided a comprehensive 20-page account. Authorities have also reportedly filed a case against Joby Joseph, a resident of Adoor, who is accused of delivering the abortion pills to the woman.
The woman lodged her complaint at the Chief Minister’s office on Thursday evening, submitting crucial evidence including WhatsApp chats, voice messages, photographs, and medical reports. An FIR was subsequently registered at the Nedumangad Valiyamala Police Station this morning.
