Kerala High Court Orders Probe into Allegations Against ADGP S. Sreejith

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has ordered an official investigation into allegations against ADGP S. Sreejith, specifically regarding his participation as a chief guest at a private Ayurvedic center’s inauguration in Abu Dhabi. The court has directed the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary, and the Vigilance Director to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit a report within three months.

The bench, presided over by Justice Badharudeen, initiated the action following a petition filed by Deepan Edavana, an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector. During the hearing, the court questioned the authority that granted permission to the ADGP to participate in the inauguration of a private institution.

In addition to the Abu Dhabi incident, the High Court has ordered an investigation into allegations dating back to Sreejith’s tenure as the Transport Commissioner. The court specifically directed that an investigation report previously submitted by Special Secretary of the Transport Department, P.B. Nuh IAS, be produced.

The petitioner had also sought a detailed inquiry into various aspects of Sreejith’s professional conduct, including his phone call records, financial transactions, files related to suspensions, transfer orders, and reports from the Transport Commissioner’s squad.

The court observed that while official records indicated Sreejith had visited Dubai on casual leave on February 2 and 3, 2026, there were no documents confirming that he had received official authorization for a foreign visit to attend a private function. Furthermore, the court highlighted the gravity of the ADGP appearing in promotional material for a private center while wearing his police uniform.

Justice Badharudeen emphasized that if the allegations are proven true, they represent a serious matter that necessitates a formal investigation. Consequently, the court has mandated a probe into both sets of complaints against the senior police official.
