Jayasurya Denies New ED Summons in ‘Save Box’ App Fraud Case, Cries ‘False Propaganda’

Kochi: Actor Jayasurya has publicly refuted recent media reports claiming the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued him a third summons in connection with the ‘Save Box’ app investment fraud case. The actor clarified that reports suggesting he was instructed to appear again on January 7th are baseless and that he has not received any direct summons from the ED, only through news channels.

Jayasurya took to Instagram to express his dismay regarding what he described as widespread ‘false propaganda’ against him over the past two days. In his post, he stated, “As of the moment of writing this note, neither I nor my wife have received any summons from the ED. Previously, when requested to appear on the 24th and 29th, we duly appeared and provided our statements. It is disheartening to see media outlets, which are supposed to deliver objective news, stoop to such levels. It’s a time when the media spreads lies… isn’t it!”

The actor further elaborated on the complexities of endorsements, explaining that it is impossible for individuals approached for advertising purposes to predict what kind of fraudulent activities might be committed by companies in the future. He emphasized his status as a responsible citizen who diligently pays all due taxes.

Jayasurya had served as the brand ambassador for the ‘Save Box’ app, an initiative launched by Thrissur native Swadiq Rahim. The ED’s investigation centers on the financial transactions between Jayasurya and Swadiq, who is accused of defrauding over a hundred individuals of crores of rupees through the app. In relation to this ongoing case, the actor had previously undergone questioning by the ED for more than ten hours across two separate sessions.
