Kochi School Principal Thanks High Court and Minister, Says Student Can Continue if Rules Are Followed

Kochi: Sister Helena Alby, Principal of St. Reethas School, Palluruthy, has responded to the hijab controversy. She stated that if the student adheres to the school’s rules and regulations, the school is ready to provide education with the same love as on the first day, until her education is complete. The principal expressed confidence that good things will happen.

Principal Sister Helena Alby emphasized that St. Reethas School provides education rooted in Indian values. In addition to the curriculum, students are taught the cultural values of India and Kerala. She added that not only traditions but also human values and the importance of humanity are taught, so that children can make our India, “Sare Jahan Se Achha” (better than the whole world). The principal refrained from commenting on matters currently under court consideration, stating that the law should take its course.

The principal affirmed that the school has always respected the court and the government and will continue to do so. She expressed gratitude to the Kerala High Court for providing protection when it became evident that a small community of nuns running a school for the bright future of children had rights that needed safeguarding. She also extended thanks to Education Minister Sivankutty for all the support provided so far, acknowledging the difficulty of running an educational institution without the cooperation of the education department.
