DYFI Workers Rescue 18-Year-Old Girl from Social Media Love Trap; Predator’s Phone Contained Numerous Nude Photos of Girls

An 18-year-old girl, who had left her home with a young man she met through social media, was successfully rescued due to the timely intervention of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists. The incident unfolded at Gothuruth Pallippadi in Kochi, where the girl, a native of Kottarakkara in Kollam district, was found in suspicious circumstances with a young man from Chavakkad.

The girl revealed that this was the first time she had met the young man in person. She stated that he had pressured her to come with him, threatening to commit suicide by slitting his wrist if she refused to leave her home. The young man had brought the girl to a locked house at Gothuruth, which belonged to his mother from a second marriage, under the pretense of residing there.

DYFI activists grew suspicious after observing the interaction between the two and immediately informed former panchayat member K.T. Glitter. When questioned, the young man attempted to escape, but the activists forcefully restrained him and handed him over to the police.

Subsequent investigations by the police uncovered shocking details. The young man’s mobile phone was found to contain numerous nude photographs of various young women. Additionally, the police recovered condoms and another SIM card from his bag. Upon contacting the Kottarakkara police station, it was confirmed that the girl’s family had already filed a missing person complaint.

The girl’s family was contacted and she was safely reunited with them. Sub-Inspector K.I. Naseer commended K.T. Glitter and DYFI activists Brightley Sebastian, Adil Giles, and Kill Roy for their timely intervention, which averted a potentially dangerous situation.
