Man Found Dead, Partially Eaten by Stray Dogs in Sasthamkotta; Only Skeleton Remains

Kollam: A 55-year-old man, Radhakrishna Pillai, who lived alone in an unsecured shed in Sasthamkotta, was found dead with most of his body devoured by stray dogs. Only a skeleton remained of the deceased, whose body was several days old.
The gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon when a neighbor, while cleaning the premises, noticed a strong, foul odor. Following an investigation by locals prompted by the stench, the decomposed remains were found inside his residence. Residents also reported seeing stray dogs in the vicinity of the body.
Upon receiving the information, Sasthamkotta police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated further proceedings. A forensic team also conducted a thorough inspection of the area. After completing the necessary procedures, the remaining parts of the body have been transferred to the mortuary of Sasthamkotta Taluk Hospital. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled to be completed on Thursday, after which the body will be cremated.
Radhakrishna Pillai, who suffered from physical ailments, was unmarried and had been living alone for many years. It was reportedly his habit to occasionally leave his home for a month or two to stay in hospitals or other places. Consequently, neighbors did not typically inquire further even when he was not seen for several days, which may have contributed to the delayed discovery of his death.
