Sunny Joseph Counters Abin Varkey on Youth Congress National Role from Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President Sunny Joseph has responded to Abin Varkey, who expressed dissatisfaction after being overlooked for the Youth Congress state president post. Joseph stated, ‘One can work for the entire country even while remaining in Kerala.’ He added that K.C. Venugopal also works both in Kerala and at the national level. Joseph made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending a program in Thrithala, Palakkad.
Earlier, Abin Varkey had publicly expressed his displeasure to the media, stating his desire to continue as the Youth Congress Vice President and requesting to be allowed to remain at the state level. Sunny Joseph’s comments come in the wake of Varkey’s remarks. Varkey had also told the media that he would not say the party’s decision was wrong and that he would accept the party’s decision.
‘Everyone upholds secularism. I don’t know if being a Christian is an issue. I don’t know if the party views it that way,’ Abin Varkey had stated. ‘The national leadership of the Youth Congress has made a decision. I began my public service as the Youth Congress constituency secretary, then became the KSU unit president, and eventually the Youth Congress vice president. For all this, I am most indebted to Rahul Gandhi. I, along with others, came through a democratic electoral process,’ Varkey elaborated.
