Five Malayalis Among Six Dead in Tragic Bus Accident in Kenya

Nairobi: A bus carrying an Indian tourist group from Qatar to Kenya met with a fatal accident, resulting in the deaths of six people, five of whom are Malayalis.
The deceased Malayali victims have been identified as:
- Riya Ann (41), daughter of Radhakrishnan from Mannoor Puthanpura, Kongad, Palakkad.
- Her daughter, Tyra (8).
- Jasna Kuttikkattuchalil (29) from Thrissur district.
- Her daughter, Roohi Mehrin (one and a half months old).
- Geetha Shoji Isaac (58) from Thiruvalla.
In the accident, 23 people sustained injuries and have been admitted to local hospitals. Three of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.
The tourist group, comprising 28 individuals from Qatar, including Malayalis, and natives of Karnataka and Goa, departed for Kenya on June 6, the day of Bakrid. The bus lost control and plunged into a gorge in Kenya’s Nyandarua province, located in the northeastern region.
The accident occurred around 4 PM local time on Monday evening. Kenyan media reported that the vehicle lost control due to heavy rain, hit a tree, and then tumbled approximately ten meters into a gorge. The bus’s roof was severely damaged upon impact. The tourists were on a journey from Maasai Mara National Park to Nyahururu, and then onward to Nakuru, when the tragedy struck.
