News 18 Exclusive | Minister Saji Cherian Rejects Hema Committee Report, Calls Findings ‘Mere Scripts’

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister Saji Cherian stated that the Hema Committee report contains nothing but ‘mere scripts’. He added that the report consists of several narratives that anyone can speculate about. He made these remarks while speaking on News18 Kerala’s Q18 program.

Cultural Minister Saji Cherian further clarified that no one’s name has been explicitly mentioned in the report. He emphasized that one cannot destroy someone’s life through mere speculation. The minister also affirmed that no actor’s name was mentioned in the report.

The minister stated that the government is currently considering the recommendations put forth by the Hema Committee report, rather than its specific content. He clarified that the Left government never attempted to suppress the report, nor were there any efforts made to protect individuals mentioned within it. He further explained that the complex procedures involved were the primary reason for the delay in releasing the report over several years.

Cherian highlighted that the Hema Committee report was not a minor undertaking but a significant matter. Consequently, he noted, it took more than two years to prepare the comprehensive report.
