MLA Eldhose Kunnappilly’s Office Forced to Vacate After Wife Fails to Secure Chairperson Post

Kochi: Dramatic events unfolded following the Perumbavoor Municipal Chairperson election. In protest against his nominated candidate not securing the chairperson position, a councilor’s husband demanded the eviction of MLA Eldhose Kunnappilly’s office. The MLA’s office was operating from a building owned by the family of a woman councilor near the Perumbavoor KSRTC stand.

The office, which had commenced operations just a month ago, had to be urgently relocated due to the political dispute. Immediately after the municipal chairperson election, the councilor’s husband, who is the building owner, asked the office to vacate. Reports indicate that the office’s boards were removed and the electricity fuse was taken out. Following this, the MLA’s staff announced that the office would be promptly moved to another building.

Three women councilors had staked claim for the chairperson position. Ultimately, Sangeetha K.S. was elected chairperson after a vote mediated by the DCC (District Congress Committee) leadership. Sangeetha secured the victory with 16 votes. As per the understanding, Sangeetha K.S. will hold the chairperson post for the first two and a half years, and Annie Mathew will serve for the remaining term.
