‘Enticed and sexually assaulted, forced abortion’: Statement of complainant against Rahul Mamkootathil recorded

Thiruvananthapuram: Police have recorded the statement of the woman who filed a complaint against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The complainant’s statement was recorded last night under the leadership of the Rural SP.
The complainant has stated in her testimony that Rahul Mamkootathil enticed and sexually assaulted her, and forced her to undergo an abortion. Based on this serious allegation, the police are expected to register a case against the MLA soon.
Authorities plan to apply to record the woman’s confidential statement before the court, which is a crucial step in such cases. The initial case against Rahul Mamkootathil will be registered at Nedumangad Valiyammala Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram. Following the initial registration, the case is slated to be transferred to Nemom Police Station for further investigation.
The police have indicated that a formal case against Rahul Mamkootathil will be registered today itself. In anticipation of legal proceedings, it has been reported that Rahul Mamkootathil has already been in contact with lawyers in Kochi via phone, exploring options for anticipatory bail from the court.
This development follows the survivor’s direct approach to the Chief Minister’s office on Thursday evening, where she submitted a formal complaint along with substantial evidence. The evidence provided by the woman includes digital proofs such as WhatsApp chats and relevant medical records, which are expected to bolster her claims.
It is also noted that the Crime Branch had previously initiated a suo motu case against Rahul Mamkootathil in connection with allegations of stalking women. The current registration of a case based on the sexual assault complaint adds another layer to the ongoing legal scrutiny against the MLA.
