Case Filed Over AI Image of CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Unnikrishnan Potty; Congress Leader N. Subramanian in Custody

Kozhikode: KPCC Political Affairs Committee member N. Subramanian has been taken into police custody in connection with a case involving the sharing of a picture of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Sabarimala gold smuggling case accused Unnikrishnan Potty together on social media. The Chemmayur police took action, alleging that the widely circulated image was a fake created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Subramanian was taken into custody by the police from his residence in Kozhikode early on Saturday after he failed to appear for questioning. Police have registered a case against him under serious sections, including incitement to riot (BNS 192, Kerala Police Act 120).

He claims that the picture he shared is not fake, but rather from a video released by the Chief Minister’s office itself. He further stated that the case against him is part of political vendetta and that he will not withdraw the post.

Subramanian’s post questioned the relationship between Pinarayi Vijayan and Unnikrishnan Potty. However, CPM leaders repeatedly assert that the image is AI-generated. Subramanian also questioned why no case has been registered against BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who shared the same picture.

Following his custody, Subramanian complained of physical discomfort and was admitted to the hospital. Congress leaders have strongly protested against this police action.

N. Subramanian shared images of the Chief Minister and Unnikrishnan Potty together on social media, with the caption, “What could be the reason for such a deep relationship between Pinarayi Vijayan and Unnikrishnan Potty?”

The CPM had earlier alleged that this picture was artificially created. CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan clarified that the circulated image is a fake produced using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and that the facts behind it will soon come out. The authenticity of the picture is currently a subject of intense dispute between the ruling and opposition parties.
