Three MLAs File Complaint Against K.M. Shajahan Over Video Allegedly Implicating Left Legislators

Three Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police (DGP) against K.M. Shajahan concerning a controversial YouTube video. The complainants are Antony John, MLA for Kothamangalam; K.J. Maxi, MLA for Kochi; and P.V. Sreenijin, MLA for Kunnathunad. The complaint alleges that the news presented in the video cast a shadow of suspicion over a prominent CPM woman leader and several Left MLAs in the Ernakulam district.

The MLAs contend in their complaint that the contentious news report has caused significant reputational damage to them. The video, which is at the center of the controversy, was uploaded by Shajahan on his YouTube channel on the 16th of this month. The complainants further assert that the content and claims made within the video are entirely baseless and factually incorrect. This complaint from the MLAs follows an earlier police case registered against Shajahan, which was initiated based on a complaint by CPM leader K.J. Shine.

Subsequent to the release of Shajahan’s video, K.J. Shine and the implicated MLAs became targets of widespread cyber-attacks and malicious online propaganda across various social media platforms. In response to these actions, K.J. Shine has publicly stated her firm resolve to pursue stringent legal measures against those responsible for the cyber-attacks and the dissemination of false information.

Yesterday, K.J. Shine took to Facebook to express her sentiments, urging those involved to cease what she described as “the political bankruptcy of stripping others to hide one’s own nakedness.” This statement underscores the seriousness with which the affected parties view the allegations and the subsequent online harassment.

The case highlights growing concerns regarding online content creation and its potential impact on public figures, prompting calls for stricter enforcement against misinformation and cyberbullying.
