Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Extends Wishes to BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram Mayoral Candidate V.V. Rajesh

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has extended his best wishes to V.V. Rajesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) mayoral candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The gesture occurred during a phone call initiated by V.V. Rajesh to the Chief Minister prior to the upcoming mayoral election. Chief Minister Vijayan conveyed his greetings and wishes during their conversation.

This election marks a historic moment in the state’s political landscape, as it is the first time the BJP has secured control of a corporation in Kerala. V.V. Rajesh is set to become the first BJP mayor in the state. The BJP achieved this significant victory by securing fifty seats in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, effectively breaking the four-decade-long stronghold of the Left front in the capital city.

V.V. Rajesh, known as a prominent figure in the BJP’s protest movements in the capital, received the full support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which played a crucial role in his candidacy. Rajesh, who won from the Kodunganur ward this time, was previously a councilor from the Poojappura ward. Ashanath, who emerged victorious from the Karumam ward, is the party’s candidate for the Deputy Mayor position.

This electoral outcome represents a notable shift in Kerala’s political dynamics, with the BJP making inroads into local administration in a traditionally Left-dominated region.
