High Court to Consider Rahul Mankootathil’s Anticipatory Bail Plea on Saturday

MLA Rahul Mankootathil has approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. The High Court will consider the anticipatory bail application on Saturday. In the petition filed before the High Court, Rahul stated that there was an error in the order of the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court, which rejected his anticipatory bail, and that the evidence against the complainant was not considered. Advocate S. Rajeev will appear for Rahul in the High Court.
When the case first emerged, Rahul and his associates had considered approaching the High Court directly. However, that decision was changed due to a special observation by the Supreme Court. Earlier, the Supreme Court had remarked that it was not proper for the Kerala High Court to directly consider anticipatory bail pleas and grant bail. Following this, the High Court adopted the stance that anticipatory bail applications should first be considered by Sessions Courts. It was in this context that Rahul had to approach the Sessions Court for anticipatory bail.
