Food Poisoning in Neyyattinkara After Consuming Fish; 35 Hospitalized, Including Children

Thiruvananthapuram: A significant incident of food poisoning has affected 35 individuals, including children, in Neyyattinkara after they consumed fish. The individuals, who reportedly ate ‘Chempalli’ (Red Snapper) fish, are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
The affected residents had purchased the fish from different markets within the Neyyattinkara area. Following the onset of discomfort, patients were admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, Karakkonam Medical College, and Neyyattinkara Taluk Hospital.
Health department officials have confirmed that none of the admitted patients are in critical condition. The symptoms of food poisoning began to manifest last night among both children and adults.
In response to the incident, the Food Safety Department has launched an investigation to ascertain the cause. Authorities are examining whether the fish was stale or if any chemical substances were present, which could have led to the mass food poisoning.
