Tavanur Central Jail Officer Found Dead

Malappuram: An Assistant Prison Officer at Tavanur Central Jail was discovered dead by suicide in his rented quarters adjacent to the correctional facility. S. Barshath, 29, a native of Puthunagaram, Chittur in Palakkad, was found hanging.

Barshath had been transferred to Tavanur Central Jail seven months ago. He had completed his day duty on Thursday and subsequently returned to his rented accommodation near the jail. His body was found hanging on Friday morning. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
