Author Indu Menon Continues Criticism Over Central Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for Akhil P. Dharmarajan’s Novel

Writer Indu Menon has escalated her criticism regarding Akhil P. Dharmarajan’s novel, “Ram C/o Aanandi,” receiving the Central Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. Her latest remarks follow a widespread debate ignited by her earlier comment that “it’s not surprising that the young face representing Malayalam literature in India today is a pulp fiction.”

Menon stated in a new social media post that she is facing significant cyberattacks following her previous comments. She asserted that it’s foolish for “half-witted fake IDs” to attempt to counter a truth she has stated by resorting to abusive language targeting a woman’s body and personal matters.

Indu Menon further alleged that the inclusion of the “trashy pulp fiction” “Ram C/o Aanandi” alongside many excellent books in the shortlist for the Sahitya Akademi Award is “the biggest literary conspiracy and linguistic crime she has ever witnessed.”
