Accused Arrested in ₹40 Lakh Robbery Case in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: Shibil Lal, the accused in the case of snatching ₹40 lakh from a private bank employee in Pantheerankavu, has been apprehended. He was taken into custody early this morning from a bus while traveling from Thrissur to Kozhikode. The accused has been brought to the Feroke ACP’s office and is currently undergoing detailed questioning by the police. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of further arrests based on the interrogation. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the stolen ₹40 lakh has not yet been recovered.
The case revolves around Shibil Lal allegedly snatching ₹40 lakh from Aravind, an employee of the ESAF Bank branch in Ramanattukara, and fleeing on a scooter. The scooter, which was reportedly rented for the robbery, was recently recovered from Shibil’s shed in Pantheerankavu.
According to police, the incident occurred around 1 PM yesterday (Thursday), when Shibil Lal snatched a black bag containing the money from Aravind. Seven other ESAF Bank employees were also present nearby during the robbery. Police state that Shibil Lal snatched the bag from Aravind on the Ramanattukara-Pantheerankavu road, in front of Akshaya Finance, and escaped on a black Jupiter scooter towards Mankavu.
Immediately after the incident, the employee returned to the bank to report it, leading to a police complaint. Police identified Shibil Lal as the accused through CCTV footage analysis.
