‘BJP Leaders Offered Governor Post at My Home,’ Alleges G Sudhakaran

**’BJP Leaders Offered Governor Post at My Home,’ Alleges G Sudhakaran**

**Alappuzha, October 7, 2025:** Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Kerala Devaswom Minister, G. Sudhakaran, has made a sensational claim, stating that leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) approached him at his residence with an offer for the Governor’s post. The veteran politician made this revelation while addressing the KPCC Samskara Sahithi Southern Regional Camp, held at the Karmasadan Pastoral Centre in Alappuzha, where he spoke on the topic ‘Culture and Politics Today, Tomorrow’.

During his address, Sudhakaran also critically remarked on the state of affairs in Kerala, asserting that the state is ‘number one’ in the theft of gold plating from the revered Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple. He questioned the prevailing sentiment of constantly proclaiming Kerala as ‘number one,’ urging for introspection into the various societal ills and inappropriate activities occurring. ‘Everyone is competing to say that Kerala is number one. We must examine whether it is always necessary to say so, considering the numerous inappropriate things happening,’ he stated. ‘While we excel in many aspects, we are also lagging behind in many others. If we claim to be number one in everything, it implies there is no room for further growth. Is such a state achievable for human society?’ he pondered.

Sudhakaran, who affirmed his steadfast loyalty to the CPM for 63 years, having relinquished all official positions except party membership, elaborated on the BJP’s alleged overtures. He recounted how BJP representatives visited his home, extending an offer for any position, specifically mentioning the Governor’s post. ‘Some people question why I do not join the BJP. I believe that those who have demonstrated a clear political vision should not be subjected to unnecessary criticism or targeting,’ he explained.

Commenting on the internal dynamics of Left politics, particularly in Alappuzha district, Sudhakaran attributed certain undesirable developments to the infiltration of ‘many inappropriate individuals.’ He also criticized the rigid compartmentalization of political parties, challenging the notion that communists should refrain from participating in discussions hosted by the Congress party. ‘Such a narrow perspective would hinder societal progress,’ he concluded, advocating for more open dialogue across political lines.
