Bangladeshi Family Arrested in Ernakulam

Ernakulam: A Bangladeshi family illegally residing in Njarakkal, Ernakulam, has been apprehended. The couple, along with their three children, had been living in Njarakkal for years after purchasing land. Dasharath Banerjee (38) and his wife, Mari Bibi (33), were arrested by the police. The children have been moved to a shelter home.

The family was caught due to forged birth certificates. The arrests were made during an inspection conducted by the Ernakulam Rural Police as part of Operation Clean. The number of Bangladeshis apprehended in the district this year has now reached 37.

Police say that they obtained fake Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and birth certificates from Bengal before coming to Kerala. The arrested couple has been remanded.
