Deepak’s Death: ‘Murder Charges Must Be Filed Against Woman’; Family Files Complaint with Commissioner

The family of a Kozhikode Govindapuram native, Deepak, who died by suicide following the circulation of a fake sexual assault video by a content creator, has filed a complaint with the Commissioner. Deepak’s family asserts that his death was a murder and has demanded that murder charges be pressed against the young woman. The family also stated their intention to file similar complaints with the Human Rights Commission, the Collector, the DGP, and the Minister. The complaint to the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner was filed in the name of Deepak’s mother.

Deepak, 41, died by suicide after a video filmed by the woman went viral on social media. Deepak, who worked as a sales manager at a textile shop in Kozhikode, was on a private bus returning from Payyanur on Friday for work-related purposes when the woman filmed the video.

The woman later shared this video on social media, labelling it as a sexual assault, and it quickly gained widespread circulation. Upon seeing the video, Deepak experienced severe emotional distress, discussing it with his mother and friends. He was profoundly distressed about how he would face others. The family’s complaint alleges that the woman is responsible for Deepak’s death and, therefore, murder charges should be brought against her.

Police are currently attempting to locate the bus where the video was allegedly filmed. Meanwhile, Vadakara police have rejected the woman’s claim that she reported the sexual assault. The woman subsequently deleted her Facebook account after the incident.
