Kochi: Vypin MLA K.N. Unnikrishnan announced that he would confront the defamatory campaigns against him both politically and legally. In a statement, he urged the public to dismiss all baseless slanderous claims made against him. He stated that character assassination and defamation of leaders have always been a tactic employed by right-wing political forces to attack and dismantle the Communist movement and the Left Front. He described it as a Goebbelian strategy, asserting that these are merely dishonest campaigns aimed at reviving the declining Congress politics and rescuing it from the depths of decadence.
In his full statement, MLA K.N. Unnikrishnan elaborated: “Friends, I am a humble political activist who entered public life through the progressive student movement. Today, I represent Vypin as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. Selflessness, endurance, sacrifice, love, and compassion towards fellow beings are the qualities that shape a public servant and pave the way for an activist to reach a position like a Member of the Legislative Assembly. I have reached this point by navigating various crises and challenging paths. Even the love and respect of political adversaries have contributed to my growth.”
He continued, “However, I have noticed widespread false propaganda circulating on social media, solely aimed at protecting vested political interests, seeking personal revenge, and defaming my political career. A Facebook post by an individual named C.K. Gopalakrishnan, from Chettissery, made baseless allegations without explicitly naming individuals, yet in a manner that allowed them to be identified based on conjecture. Subsequently, social media amplified these claims, and news reports, complete with my name and photograph, began appearing in daily newspapers and online channels.”
Unnikrishnan reiterated, “Attacking and dismantling the Communist movement and the Left Front by assassinating the character and defaming its leaders has always been the modus operandi of right-wing political forces. A Goebbelian tactic is being employed here. This is nothing but a dishonest campaign designed to revive the crumbling Congress politics and rescue it from the abyss of degradation.”
He concluded his statement by asserting, “I humbly request that those spreading this false propaganda be brought before the law and exemplary punitive action be taken against them. I also wish to state that I will confront these incidents both politically and legally. I earnestly appeal to all my friends who have personally loved me and encouraged me in public affairs to dismiss all these baseless slanderous campaigns.”
