Palakkad Congress Councillor Pledges ‘Protective Shield’ for Rahul Mankootathil Amidst Attacks

Palakkad Congress Councillor Mansoor Manalanchery has declared that a ‘protective shield’ would be formed for Rahul Mankootathil if attempts are made to prevent him from entering the constituency. Manalanchery asserted that isolated attacks on Mankootathil would not strengthen the party but rather weaken it, a point he urged party leaders to consider.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Councillor emphasized that even if senior leaders were to distance themselves, supporters would rally to protect Rahul Mankootathil should he set foot in Palakkad. He later reiterated this stance to reporters, confirming that Congress workers are prepared to ensure Mankootathil’s security if any attempts are made to bar his entry into the Palakkad constituency.
Manalanchery clarified that his comments were not intended to criticize the leaders but to highlight that isolating and attacking Rahul Mankootathil would ultimately not serve the party’s best interests. He also noted that beyond party workers, the police too bear the responsibility for providing security. Expressing the sentiments of grassroots workers, he questioned the double standards, pointing out the presence of several legislators accused in harassment cases within the assembly who are now ‘crucifying’ Rahul. He concluded by stating that if Mankootathil has indeed committed any wrongdoing, appropriate legal action should be pursued.
