Kerala Cabinet Approves ₹10 Lakh Aid for Family of Woman Killed in Kottayam Medical College Accident
Son to Receive Government Job, House Renovation Also Approved

The Kerala Cabinet has decided to provide ₹10 lakh in financial assistance to the family of Bindu, a resident of Thalayolaparambu, who tragically died when a building at Kottayam Medical College collapsed. In a meeting held today, the cabinet also decided to offer government employment to her son and undertake the renovation of their house.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan participated in the cabinet meeting online from the United States. Earlier, during a visit by Health Minister Veena George to Bindu’s home, the family had requested a government job for her son, a plea that has now been addressed by this decision. Minister V.N. Vasavan had also previously indicated that the cabinet would consider providing the necessary financial aid to the family.
D. Bindu (52), from Ummankunnu Meppathkunnel in Thalayolaparambu, died in the accident that occurred on July 3rd. Bindu had arrived at the hospital for her daughter’s treatment. The government had earlier announced ₹12.5 lakh in aid to complete the construction of Bindu’s house and had also assured assistance for her daughter’s medical expenses.
