Senior CPO Umesh Vallikkunnu Dismissed from Kerala Police Service for Disciplinary Violations

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Civil Police Officer (CPO) Umesh Vallikkunnu, who had been under suspension, has been officially dismissed from the Kerala Police force. The order, issued by the Pathanamthitta District Police Chief, cites Umesh Vallikkunnu’s failure to fulfill his duties as a police officer.
A native of Kozhikode, Umesh Vallikkunnu was most recently posted at the Aranmula station in Pathanamthitta. The dismissal order emphasizes that allowing an individual who has committed serious breaches of discipline, dereliction of duty, misconduct, and actions tarnishing the reputation of both the police force and the government to remain in service would significantly demoralize other police officers.
Prior to the final dismissal, Vallikkunnu had been issued a temporary dismissal notice. The subsequent dismissal order states that his response to this initial notice was deemed unsatisfactory. Furthermore, a Special Branch DySP investigation was announced, which Umesh reportedly mocked on social media. These factors, among others, were considered in the decision to confirm the dismissal.
Umesh Vallikkunnu has the right to appeal the dismissal to higher authorities within 60 days. It is understood that he had faced various disciplinary actions on approximately thirty previous occasions. In response to the dismissal, Umesh Vallikkunnu stated that he intends to challenge the decision in court and will also file an appeal with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), asserting that he stands firm on the issues he has raised.
