Serious Allegations in FIR Against Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil: Threat, Sexual Abuse, and Forced Abortion

News18 has obtained a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) detailing grave allegations against Rahul Mamkoottathil. The complaint, personally lodged by the woman with the Chief Minister, outlines a disturbing series of events that transpired over just two months.

According to the FIR, the incidents, ranging from sexual abuse to forced abortion, occurred rapidly. On March 17, 2025, the woman was allegedly threatened, and nude visuals of her were captured. Subsequently, on April 22, she was reportedly sexually assaulted at a flat in Thrikannapuram. This pattern of abuse continued in the last week of May at an MLA’s flat in Palakkad. The FIR further states that on May 30, abortion pills were handed over to the woman in Kaimanam, Thiruvananthapuram.

The complainant also alleged that she was subjected to threats, with Mamkoottathil warning that her life would be ruined if their relationship was disclosed. The FIR explicitly mentions that the accused individuals actively encouraged and assisted each other in these acts.

Police have formally registered an FIR against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil, encompassing serious charges including repeated sexual exploitation, fraudulent promise of marriage leading to forced abortion, verbal abuse, death threats, and various infringements of IT laws.

The case was initially registered at the Valiyamala Police Station in the early hours of Friday morning before being transferred to the Nemom Police Station. This shift places the high-level investigation under the direct purview of Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner Thomson Jose.

Authorities are preparing to file a petition with the Neyyattinkara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, requesting that the woman’s statement be recorded confidentially, in accordance with Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The charges leveled against Mr. Mamkoottathil are comprehensive, including rape, obtaining consent for sexual intercourse through deceitful means, compelling a woman to become pregnant under the false promise of marriage, and inducing abortion. Further allegations against Mamkoottathil involve the procurement of abortion pills without a prescription, arranging for an acquaintance to deliver these pills to the woman, and allegedly forcing her to consume the medication while under video surveillance to ensure compliance.

In connection with the case, police have identified and included Mamkoottathil’s acquaintance, a businessman hailing from Pathanamthitta, as the second accused. The investigation is ongoing, with further details expected to emerge as legal proceedings advance.
