Sahadevan Pattasheril, Lyricist of Iconic Devotional Song ‘Thulasikkathir Nulliyeduthu’, Passes Away at 89

Kollam: Sahadevan Pattasheril, the renowned lyricist behind the evergreen Sree Krishna devotional song ‘Thulasikkathir Nulliyeduthu… Kannanoru Malaykkai’, has passed away at the age of 89.

A native of Edakkulangara in Thodiyoor, Karunagappally, Pattasheril breathed his last following age-related ailments. His funeral is scheduled to be held tonight at 8:30 PM.

Sahadevan Pattasheril, who worked as a tree-climbing laborer, had penned the lyrics of ‘Thulasikkathir Nulliyeduthu’ in his personal diary approximately 30 years ago. Despite the song achieving immense popularity and being sung by millions at countless temple festivals and musical programs across Kerala, the identity of its lyricist remained unknown to the public for decades.

It was only during the Sree Krishna Jayanti celebrations in 2020 that the world finally came to recognize Sahadevan Pattasheril as the talented creator of the beloved devotional anthem. His passing marks the end of an era for a lyricist whose words touched countless hearts, even as his identity remained a mystery for a significant period.
