Shafi Parambil Responds to Post-Surgery Criticisms: ‘Doctors Decide, Not Porali Shaji’

Kozhikode: MLA Shafi Parambil has responded to the criticisms that arose following his recent surgery, firmly stating, “It is the doctor who decides whether to shave the mustache or the beard, not Porali Shaji.” He made these remarks during a press conference held in Kozhikode today.

Parambil emphasized that in case of an injury, one should seek treatment at any hospital and not await instructions from the CPI(M). He questioned the “childish language” used by his detractors, asking if “cyber comrades” are now dictating which hospital to approach for medical care.

He further queried whether it is Porali Shaji or the cyber comrades who determine the method of treatment, or if that responsibility lies with the anesthesiologist. Parambil also alluded to the LDF convener’s recent question, “Can one speak after breaking their nose?”, choosing not to elaborate further on the matter.

Addressing questions about shaving his beard or mustache, Parambil asserted that these inquiries are not foolish but a deliberate attempt to overshadow other news and sow public suspicion. He clarified that he has not claimed any treatment expenses from the government, as the costs were covered by an insurance policy he had taken out a few years prior.

Parambil also announced his intention to present evidence to the Parliament’s Privilege Committee regarding the alleged false propaganda spread by the police and the CPI(M). He highlighted that despite the Rural SP’s disclosure that some police officers intentionally tried to create problems, no action has been taken against the accused officers. He further added that while the UDF aimed to avoid conflict in Perambra, CPI(M) leaders adopted a threatening stance by holding meetings in Perambra in the days following an attack on Congress workers.
