UDF Withdraws Hartal in Perinthalmanna Following Police Action

Malappuram: The United Democratic Front (UDF) has announced the withdrawal of the hartal (strike) that was called in Perinthalmanna in protest against an attack on the Muslim League office. The decision to call off the strike comes after the police successfully apprehended individuals suspected of involvement in the incident.
The UDF leadership stated that the withdrawal was primarily based on the police taking the accused into custody and considering the potential difficulties that a hartal would impose on the general public.
The incident that triggered the protest occurred around 9 PM on Sunday night, when the Muslim League office in Perinthalmanna was attacked. The assailants caused significant damage, including shattering the office’s window panes.
In immediate response to the vandalism, activists, under the leadership of MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram, staged a massive road blockade to express their condemnation. Following this demonstration, the UDF had initially called for a hartal on Monday. However, with the swift action by the police in arresting the suspects, the political front opted to revoke the strike, prioritizing public convenience.
