Woman Dies During Surgery in Mavelikkara; Relatives Allege Medical Negligence

Alappuzha: A 42-year-old woman, Dhanya, wife of Rejeesh from Vattappanathara, Bharanikavu North, Katanam, died in a private hospital following complications during a surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. Her relatives have alleged medical negligence and staged a protest at the hospital. Police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the family.

Dhanya was admitted to the hospital for the removal of the ovarian cyst through a laparoscopic surgery. However, during the procedure, it is reported that she experienced severe bleeding while clearing adhesions between internal organs. To address this, an emergency open surgery was performed to remove the cyst, but subsequent complications ultimately led to her demise.

Dhanya’s husband, Rejeesh, works in Dubai. The couple has one son, Atharv.
