Kochi: Roji M John, the Angamaly MLA and a member of the KPCC political affairs committee, is set to tie the knot. The bride is Lipsy, an interior designer and a native of Kalady Manikyamangalam. The betrothal ceremony will be held on Monday at Kalady Manikyamangalam Church, followed by the wedding on October 29 at the Angamaly Basilica Church.

The engagement ceremony took place on Sunday at the bride’s residence. Following the event, photographs of Roji and Lipsy together were widely shared on social media by Congress leaders and party workers. It is understood that the wedding ceremony will be a modest affair, with only close relatives in attendance.

Roji M John, who secured victories in the Angamaly constituency elections in both 2016 and 2021, began his political career through the Kerala Students Union (KSU). He served as the chairman of SH College in Thevara, Ernakulam. His academic pursuits at JNU saw him rise through the ranks to assume leadership positions within the National Students’ Union of India (NSU). Having presided over the NSU, Roji was tasked by the Congress in 2016 to contest and win the Angamaly constituency.

In the 2016 elections, Roji M John successfully entered the legislative assembly by defeating Johny Moonjely of the JDS. In 2021, despite Jose Thettayil’s strong bid to reclaim the constituency, Roji maintained his hold on the seat.

A prominent young leader within the Congress party, Roji M John is getting married at the age of 41. Born in 1984 to MV John and Elsamma in Taliparamba, Kannur district, Roji currently resides in Kurumassery, located near Angamaly.
