BJP Secures Power in Five Chengannur Panchayats, Becomes Major Opposition Elsewhere

Chengannur, Alappuzha: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a significant electoral victory in the Chengannur constituency of Alappuzha district, securing control of five panchayats. This outcome positions the BJP as the ruling party in five out of the ten panchayats in the region, while also establishing them as the primary opposition force in four other panchayats and the Chengannur Municipality.

The panchayats where the BJP has successfully formed the administration are Pandanad, Thiruvandoor, Ala, Budhanur, and Chennithala.

Following these victories, new presidents have been elected to lead these local bodies. Anisha Biju has taken the helm as President of Ala Panchayat, Pramod Kumar as President of Budhanur, and P. Ullas as President of Karthikappally. Smitha Rajesh will serve as President of Thiruvandoor, Giji Kunjukunju as President of Pandanad Panchayat, and Binuraj as President of Chennithala.

A notable aspect of these results is that the BJP’s triumph in Ala, Budhanur, and Karthikappally panchayats marks a historic first, indicating a significant shift in the local political landscape.
