KSRTC Reduces Charter Bus Rates to Boost Revenue and Utilize Spare Fleet

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced a decision to offer reduced rates for chartered trips, including those for weddings and private events. This move aims to effectively utilize currently available spare buses, thereby increasing revenue and optimizing resource use.

KSRTC stated that the new pricing structure is divided into four categories: A, B, C, and D. These revised rates will apply to all types of buses, ranging from ordinary services to Volvo models. The availability of more buses for private trips has increased following extensive maintenance work that brought additional vehicles back into service.

According to the new rates, a mini-bus can be chartered for a 4-hour duration covering 40 kilometers for just ₹3500. Rates are also available for packages of 8 hours (100 km), 12 hours (150 km), and 16 hours (200 km), with additional per-kilometer charges. All quoted prices include GST.

Comparatively, under the old tariff, an ordinary bus for 4 hours would cost ₹8500, a Fast Passenger ₹9000, a Super Fast ₹9500, a Super Express ₹10,000, and a Volvo ₹13,000. These previous rates were exclusive of GST. The initial 40-kilometer limit for the base package refers to the total round-trip distance. For any additional kilometers beyond the stipulated package, an extra charge, along with GST, will be levied based on the bus’s specific class.
