
Alappuzha: A KSRTC Swift bus crashed into an underpass construction site on the national highway in Cherthala, injuring 28 people. Nine of those injured are in serious condition. The bus, which was traveling from Coimbatore to Thiruvananthapuram, met with the accident around 4 AM.
The bus reportedly veered into the steel rods erected for the underpass construction near the Cherthala Police Station on the national highway. Passengers stated that excessive speed led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. Among the injured are both the driver and the conductor. Fire and rescue services from Cherthala had to cut open parts of the bus to extricate the driver and conductor. The injured have been admitted to Cherthala Taluk Hospital and Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
