No Issues with Consuming Seafood, Says Kerala Fisheries Minister Amidst Vessel Accident Rumors

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian has stated that there is absolutely no problem with consuming seafood. The Minister urged an end to the false propaganda circulating in the wake of the recent cargo vessel accident.

He assured that necessary inspections and actions would be taken regarding the ship accident. “There is no cause for concern at present,” the Minister said. He highlighted that traditional fishermen are facing hardship due to the false campaign being spread through social media, and that this misinformation has also affected seafood exporting companies.

The government will examine providing relief to the fishermen and will discuss the matter with the Central government, the Minister added. He also announced that the trawling ban in Kerala will commence on June 9 and will last for 52 days.
