Kerala Weather Update: Rain Warning Revised, Light Showers Anticipated Across Districts
Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a revised rain warning for Kerala, indicating that light rain is expected to continue across the state for the next five days. While no specific heavy rain warnings have been declared for any districts during this period, scattered light showers are anticipated in all 14 districts today.
Specifically, over the next three hours, isolated light rainfall is likely in the districts of Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Residents in these areas are advised to stay informed of local weather developments.
In addition to the rain forecast, a special caution advisory has been issued for October 2, 2025, regarding strong winds and adverse weather conditions in several coastal and sea areas. Winds gusting between 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, and occasionally reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour, are expected off the Gujarat coast, the Northeast and Central East Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Mannar, and the Kanyakumari region. Similar conditions are also forecast for the Northwest and Central West Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas off the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, stronger winds, with speeds ranging from 45 to 55 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 65 kilometers per hour, are anticipated off the North Gujarat coast, its adjoining Southern Gujarat coastal areas, and the sea regions off North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, the Central Bay of Bengal, and the North Bay of Bengal. Fishermen and those venturing into these sea areas are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution or consider postponing their activities during this period of inclement weather.
