Youth Congress Leader Killed in Elephant Attack in Gudalur, Tamil Nadu

In a tragic incident, a young man was killed in an elephant attack at Devarshola in Gudalur. The deceased has been identified as Jamsheed (37), the Mandalam President of the Youth Congress. Jamsheed belonged to a Malayali family that had migrated from Malappuram to Gudalur.

The incident occurred today at around 2 AM. The region has been facing a severe menace from wild elephants. The attack happened when an elephant, which had entered a residential area, was being driven away. Unfortunately, the elephant turned on Jamsheed and attacked him.

Jamsheed sustained critical injuries in the attack and was rushed to the hospital, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.

Jamsheed’s house is located in the Third Division of Devarshola, an area heavily impacted by frequent elephant disturbances. Though Devarshola is in Tamil Nadu, it is home to several densely populated Malayali families.

Jamsheed previously worked as a hotel staff member in Bengaluru.
