Kerala Braces for Intensified Rains as Low-Pressure System Approaches; Yellow Alerts Issued

Kerala is set to experience a resurgence of heavy rainfall starting today (Wednesday), influenced by a low-pressure system, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Isolated heavy rains are particularly expected in North Kerala over the coming days. As a precautionary measure, the central meteorological department has issued alerts for various districts.
The IMD has warned that the state is likely to receive rain for the next five days, driven by a low-pressure area currently situated over Jharkhand. Isolated heavy rainfall is also anticipated until Saturday. The advisory further cautions about strong winds, potentially reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, until Thursday, urging the public to exercise vigilance.
For today, isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, where a Yellow Alert has been declared. Looking ahead, rain warnings have been issued for:
- Thursday: Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
- Friday: Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
- Saturday: Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
